On August 8th, New Jersey’s registration system for medical marijuana patients opened. This system makes it possible for patients to begin receiving medical marijuana as soon as September, when the state’s first dispensary opens it doors. New Jersey’s Department of Health Commissioner, Mary O’Dowd, said “Creating all of these systems was a little time consuming, but we believe we’ve provided a streamlined easy to use system for patients and physicians and something that will stand up to law enforcement scrutiny”. Scrutiny would not necessarily come only from NJ’s governor Chris Christie but also President Obama. Only one clinic has received grow permits as of yet because New Jersey’s medical marijuana regulations are a lot stricter then any other states.
