Are Joints A Waste Of Weed?

Joints have been most Stoners favorite way to smoke marijuana for almost 60 years because they are small, easy to use, and cheap to buy. But just because the joint is the most popular method does not mean that they are the ‘best’ way to consume weed. Besides joints marijuana enthusiasts can also use bongs, pipes, or vaporizers to smoke. Some Stoners think of joints as a waste of weed for the following reasons…
Always Burning
After you light a joint you usually smoke it until the roach without interruption. The problem with this is that the marijuana continues to burn when you are not smoking it. If you take a hard hit and cough…the marijuana is still burning…when your holding the smoke from a hit in your lungs…the marijuana is still burning…when you are deep in a smoke session conversion…you get the point. With a bong you are able to cover the bowl and put out your marijuana in between hits, unlike joints that burn consistently.
Less THC
According to studies marijuana users only receive approximately 23% of the THC when using joints. This is because the flame burns at a much higher temperature then necessary to release the THC, so while the cherry is burning it is actually cooking away the THC from the next hit. This is not the case with bong or pipes where you commonly put out the bowl after each hit
More Then Necessary
As I have said before once you light a joint you usually smoke it till the end, even if you get high about halfway through. When you are smoking a bong you can stop at any time by putting out the bowl with a coin or lighter, this saves marijuana and allows you to smoke again later.
Risk
When you roll joints there is always the risk of rolling a loose joint and it burning away to quick. The better you become at rolling joints the less this will happen but there is always a chance. With bongs all you do is pack the bowl until it is full and smoke, no risk of over or under rolling.
Now that you have read why some Stoners believe joints to be a waste of weed you can make the decision on whether or not you should roll a joint yourself.
