Joint Roaches

What Is A Roach?

A roach is a piece of index card that is inserted into the end of a joint to stop it from clogging up and to stop pieces of marijuana from falling out. Roaches do not act like a filter but simply open the end of your joint so the smoke can flow freely. Roaches are rolled in a cone shape so that they condense the smoke, making all the hit smoother on your throat.

How Do I Make A Roach?

When making a roach the size and the width should depend on the size of the joint. Wide roaches allow for a lot of smoke to pass through which can cause the smoke to be rough, whereas thin roaches cool the smoke but tend to clog. Tear thin strip from a index card about a centimeter wide and roll it at a slight angle, this should look like a cone.

How Do I Use A Roach?

To use your roach you simply need to roll your joint with the roach already placed at the end of it(small part of the cone facing outward). Rolling your joint with the roach already inside makes for quick and easy roll. Attempting to insert the roach after rolling can make the joint flimsy.
